The Soul Has Greater Need of the Ideal Than of the Real

I have been itching to go to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City ever since I discovered its existence. 5 years later I got my wish. Mistake #1 taking a 3 year old. Mistake #2 taking a 1 year old. It was still a lovely building filled with art.

The lawn of the museum has humongo shuttlecocks just sitting there. Some artistic people and some people with money got together and pictured the museum as a net and thought it would be hillarious to place giant birdies in the grass where they might have landed...if giants played badminton.
You can tell by the smile on Venna's face that she was thrilled with this bronze woman.

The Thinker. Not the real one. The real monumental recasted one. He was cute.
I can't wait to go back and actually view all the art without whiney children.

I love when rich people and artistic people get together. It's almost as awesome as when bored people and silly people get together.
