My maternal great great grandfather is Anders Johansson.
He was born and lived in Kokkola Finland.
Somehow he ended up a Mormon in Utah.
We visited Kokkola, saw a boat from the Crimean War, and we ate lunch at a tori.
My maternal great grandfather is Andrew Theodore Johnson.
He served two missions in Finland and Sweden.
During his second mission, in 1948, he and my great grandmother Mae Timothy Johnson helped to design and build the first Mormon chapel in Finland.
This is it!!
It is no longer a chapel. People live there.
They converted the baptismal font into their sauna.
During a remodel the owners found this original sign. It's hanging in the garage.
It's Tucker's birthday!!
He's standing on the place where Apostle Ezra Taft Benson dedicated Finland for the preaching of the gospel in July 1947.
| Pretty lucky to turn 2 in Finland! |
| The ground was covered in this lovely whitish green mossy stuff. |
Footwear compliments of the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel sauna.
Then we drove 5 hours back to our Yellow Hotel.
Jonah does not understand the building my parents are living in.
Is it an apartment or a hotel?
He knows for sure that it's yellow.
