The Cave of Wonders

Yesterday we hiked to the Timpanogos Caves. We had such a good time. It was definitely worth the moola, effort, and time. Can you believe Venna walked almost the entire way by herself? I only carried her once on the way up and once on the way down for about 3 minutes each. It's 1.5 miles each way. Plus all the walking in the caves! She's amazing.

Forest Ranger Cami took this family picture for us at the top.

Here's a view from the top. The sun was shinning through the canyon. It was a beautiful morning. Perfect temperature.
After all that hiking Venna needed a good thumb suck to restore her energy.

And 2 butter sandwiches.
We hiked so fast. We passed everyone. It was great until we realized we were going to have to wait half an hour for our tour. Good thing Ranger Cami hooked us up with and earlier one. Do you like how Jonah is crawling around on the cement? He enjoyed himself.

Venna, Jonah, and me inside the cave! Little bit crowded. It was pretty hard not to touch the walls. I am personally responsible for stunting the growth of formations in at least 4 areas. AND you're not supposed to eat in the caves. Something about crumbs attracting rodents. I think the people on our tour will thank us for disobeying the rule just this once. Cinnamon graham crackers kept the kids from screaming.

Josh and Jonah inside the cave. Because it is so dark the pictures we took of the formations are pretty stinky. I won't bore you with them. I'll just keep on posting pictures of us!

Jonah fell asleep on the way back down. Doesn't he look kissably cute right there? Are you wondering how Jonah made it to the top? Josh packed Jonah is our brand spankin' new child carrier. Very nice. Very expensive. Very worth it. Where is it in the pictures above you might wonder? We had to leave it on a bench about a 1/4 of a mile away from the caves. Thank you visitors of Timanogos Caves for not stealing our new toy.

I still can't believe Venna did such a good job hiking. Her endurance was amazing. She wasn't very impressed with the caves, though. I wonder what she thought it would be like. Sorry, no genie or treasure in this cave, Venna.

Very nice!! I'm glad I wasn't on that hike or otherwise I would have been sitting with the child carrier:}
