a tent & a pink bicycle

A tent:
In high school (and probably college) my friend, Jill, and I held a strong belief that everything was more fun in a tent. When my parents went to Europe for 2 weeks we set up a huge tent in the living room, moved the couch in, and had a blast just watching TV from inside. You should try it. Your viewing pleasure will go up by 300% or your money back. Guaranteed. I'm trying to pass this invaluable knowledge on to my own children. As you can see, they are quick learners.

A pink bicycle:
Last week our neighbor, who is a boy, rode by on a pink bike. Venna yelled, "Hey! That's a girl bike!" Of course I told her to shut it. In a nice way.
Today, Josh and Benji were talking about who knows what and I heard Venna say, "Derrick* rides a pink girl bike." What?! Number one, why does she still remember that? Number two, I thought our earlier conversation cleared up that misconception. So i took her in her room and showed her her own blue shirt. I asked her if it was a boy shirt. "Yes." What about Benji's shirt? "Orange. Orange is a boy color." (It was in fact the most disgusting pastel orange shirt I have ever seen. Definitely a girl color.) Nothing could convince her to change her views on which gender should wear which color. Girl: pink and purple. Boy: every other color. Don't get it wrong or Venna will let you know.

*Name has been changed to protect the identity of the boy who rides a girl bike. By the way, if you've had a bike stolen, you might want to check his yard. You should see the collection of 10 speeds spread across the lawn.
